Home security systems are a good way of adding extra protection to the security of your home. Of course, most people have a certain amount of protection anyway – and everything from double-glazing to security lights can act as an effective deterrent from intruders.
However, Security systems go one step further, providing motion-activated monitoring around the clock. These systems can be purchased and easily installed from a company such as ADT Security, who offer a number of home security packages. But with so many options to choose from, it can be difficult to decide what it best for you.
The first thing you will want to consider is whether or not you want a monitored security system. These types of systems are more common with business properties, but can also be installed in residences too. Monitored security systems automatically alert the police if the alarm is activated. There is a delay which will prevent the police being contacted if the alarm has been set off by accident. This means that you are not relying on other people to alert the authorities. With unmonitored security systems, the police will only be notified if they are contacted by someone who hears the sound of your alarm.
You will also want to consider whether you wish to install an indoor or outdoor system. Indoor systems are installed inside the house and use a motion sensor to trigger an alarm when unexpected movement is detected. These systems are turned on when a house is left unattended, and turned back off again upon return.
Outdoor security systems work differently. They are used to a deter intruders from outside the home, and don’t usually include an alarm. Instead, they are permanently active, but use a motion sensor to trigger flood lights around your home if movement is detected.
Lastly, you will want to think about whether to install a battery powered system, or one which is electric. Both have their advantages, although you might be influenced by the reliability of the power supply in your local area. While battery systems do need to be frequently checked to ensure that the batteries don’t require changing, they have the advantage for not being affected should you lose your electricity supply unexpectedly.
Of course, Home security systems can vary greatly in terms of price and style, this may help determine the system which you choose to invest in. However, these features tend to be present in the majority of home security systems.

Marijuana growhouses is a reoccurring problem that can cause major damage to your home. Landlords pay special attention and keep a special eye on your rental properties. The sooner you can spot it, the better as the longer your house is set up as a ‘Greenhouse” the more damage and thus more costs.
Owners – if your house was ever used as a growhouse you must disclose it to all new buyers when it comes time to sell!!
